Why it matters

## Why agri is fundamentally different from a factory

Agricultural operations combine seasonal irrigation, year-round pack-house cold chain, and often on-farm processing — each with a different load shape and a different economic return on solar. A one-size EPC quote will almost always over-invest in one part of the operation and under-invest in another. Getting the sequencing right is where SOLINK adds most of its value in this sector.

### Seasonal irrigation peaks

Pumped irrigation drives huge daytime loads in season and near-zero out of season. Solar sizing must be optimised for this bimodal profile, not for average consumption.

### Packhouse cold chain

Packhouse and cold-room refrigeration is 24/7 and demand-heavy. Solar + BESS routinely delivers the strongest ROI on the whole farm operation.

### Wheeling for scale

Where on-farm generation cannot meet total load, wheeled PPAs from utility-scale IPPs deliver additional coverage — often at 30–40% below the current grid rate.

    Irrigation, packhouse, cold storage, dairies, on-farm processing — each is modelled separately, then aggregated for the funding case.

    ### Ground-mount vs rooftop
    
    Many farms have both surplus land and packhouse rooftops. We compare ground-mount and rooftop economics side-by-side against the tariff structure of each meter.
    
3.  STEP 03
    
    ### Wheeling readiness
    
    For agri-processors on Megaflex, we quantify the top-up case for a wheeled PPA above the on-farm system — often adding 20–30% more clean coverage without additional capital.
